I am trying to replace the knackered wing mounted automatic aerial on my 1995 T2 - with a rubber after market one. I have taken out wheel arch liner, access is extremely limited. I think I may have to remove the wing for this job, which seems a bit extreme.

Has anybody done this before... Any tips and insight please...

let me know how you get on and any cheats you do along the way as i have to replace my aerial mast soon.
cheers
phil

Me too

This is just a guess :nenau

I want to remove mine & put in a CB Ariel in its place :naughty

I'm guessing that you just remove the plastic from inside the the arch & away you go :augie

Someone will surely be along soon to tell us

Although if your free today Phill

i changed my arial for an electric model, :augie

remove the wheel, plastic liner, and then struggle, swear, curse, and you will be suprised how much you can do one handed, refit plastic panel, and wheel, all done simple. :clap :thumbs

Here we go...
Step by step as done it today...
* On a 1995 T1 so fixings might be different on a T2.? *
1.Open bonnet & remove 3x 10mm bolts on top of wing
2.Remove 1x 10mm bolt on slam pannel holding headlight in
3.Remove 2x 10mm bolts to right hand side of head light
4.Open door & remove 1x 10mm bolt at wing mirror level
5.Remove 2x 10mm bolts on sill
6.Remove arch spat all phillips
7.Remove plastic inner arch, severall push in clips & screw in clips
8.Remove 1x 10mm bolt from inside arch looking into the door just above the sill
9.Remove front bumper, 4x 17mm bolts, 2 either side just above steering idlers
10.Remove last 10mm bolt at front of wing which was hidden by bumper

Sounds like a lot of work but it isnt

Gives you ample room to remove the ariel

Took me an hour tops

:thumbs

Sorry i forgot to take pics :doh

This is what i did, put a rubber bung in the hole then drill a hole in the rear of the roof and fit a roof aerial with amp cost me £15 and about 3/4 hour.

Beaten to it

My Mistral has a rubber one, which was fitted when I got it, very poor reception though, not sure if its the fact its loose or if it is the fact that it a jap one with length correct for jap frequencies but not uk - any thoughts
