So if I junk everything past the bulkhead in the engine bay, it won't set off any warning lights will it ?

Just pull the plugs on condenser fan etc tape and cable tie out the way

Do I need to blank off the bit where the pipes go in to the bulk head ?

might be as well blanking pipes off i got rid of ac belt a while ago to save on a bit of juice going to remove the lot to save on weight when i get round to it

Feel free to donate the bits to me:naughty

Why do you wanna get rid of it?

Jim

better fuel economy, perhaps more power, it needs gassing, it clutters my engine bay with useless crap so more room to move around, A/C is for gays

:thumbs

sometimes I wish I had AC, but then I realise I have a window. Now I can hang my arm out and look cool too.

The are are proper "charge coolers" around , so I guess so :thumbs

Guess that makes me Gay then cos I love the old AC. Have to say that mine has not made any difference to the MPG on the T2. It does on the wifes car but not on the T2.

Jim

Hummm, I wonder if you could fit the AC pipe onto your new IC.
That would keep it coooler!
i looked into this seriosly 2 or three times convinced it would work, spoke to many very clever people most said no

the ones that continued the conversation decided that the power gain would be lost to run the a/c . wet coolers are ok but not for long and they are generally sealed so have no air cooling so once cooling water is warm pointless

the most efficient intercoolers are front mounted with scooped air pushed through - but that effects aerodynamics with scoops

others suggested placing cooler on the top of wheel arch so the wheels drag air through the cooler -basically free air movement , but really useless in muddy conditions

everyone agreed moving the rad (heat source) and replacing it with an intercooler , big saab or volvo type would be the most efficient. you just gotta find somewhere to put the rad. inside the car is useless if you carry kids or passengers the roof ????? or top mount the rad.

the best by for im told is getting vaporised moisture into the air supply this cools the air and on burn releases oxygen for more bang . a bit like petes gas thing with similar electricery to i imagine to get the right adjustable feed - but your into serious modding of burn and bang rates.

Hi guys my ac doesn't work, so if I wanted to remove my drive belt to save a few mpg what's the best way to do it, remove it properly or just cut the belt off?

Don't bother as if the aircon pump isn't working its free wheeling on thwarting pully aircon only uses more fuel if its running.

If anybody is binning their aircon I'll rehome it for you :kissy
