So mark, the specialists who did my windscreen said he would pop by at some point with another mirror boss for me.

Unfortunately he has stuck the mirror to the glass under the original fitment.. :( I hate it... It wastes space...

The glue appears to look like amber (when you see fossils ect)

Although appears clear on the screen? :nenau

Any ideas what could get it off? Acetone? :nenau

I remember him mentioning at work he had this super strong stuff... :doh

The best person to answer this is Mark, the guy who did it.
He might look into it...:augie

Why didn't you discuss it prior to him sticking it on, or as he was doing it ?

:doh

I think you are "stuck" with it...
:lol

Just fit your mirror like you did last time then when he fits you another screen tell him not to stick the mirror there :thumbs:lol:lol

That'll do it.

:lol

I was at work, he popped by my home with a spare boss being kind...

That's the problem when someone does you a favour... you can't really complain.

The thing is... if you do find a suitable solvent and release it, then you then have a problem in finding an adhesive to fix it again...:doh
The song " There's a hole in my bucket" springs to mind...
ie going around in circles lol.

I don't want it. I thought he was gonna replace like for like, but he had stuck a different boss underneath the original fixing taking it more space.

I will get a boss off Rick or banshee, this one is a vauxall one. And it's about 1" lower than original mirror position.

I broke my old one...

hi alex as said before scrap it :augie:lol :thumbs

But the windscreen is probably the best part of it...:lol

Ask Mark for advice, he will know what glue it is, and probably have a release agent, the problem with using other chemicals, is that you could affect the bond, making the release agent, if there is one, ineffective.

A hammer and chisel will work or a blow lamp to melt the adhesive, but this will probably result in a broken bracket, broken windscreen and damage to the interior of the truck, so said in jest rather than a viable solution.

Windscreen fitters face this issue several times a day, so that is where I would start.

Or live with it.:augie better than no mirror at all.
Or leave the mounting bracket where it is, fit another above it, or fabricate a simple offset bracket to raise your existing mirror above that bracket.

Pics might help.:thumb2
I can't think of anything more to help you on this one, Alex old chap...
