Recon the water pump

it looks like my water pump is goosed, so i'm going to order a new one, i was just wondering if it would be possible to recon the old one to have as a backup/spare?

You might get an exchange part but tbh I think they are all made new

I got a QH one off eBay for £70

Also there is 2 types, early non intercooler are different

I asked about mine, when I did it recently, and the motor factors did not know of anyone who re-con'd them.

Said something about the way they are made, using heat tolerances to fit the bearings etc, it was only worth doing on hard to get pumps, where lack of availability out weighed the cost.
