Hi all,

Has anyone got a recommendation for a front mounted winch?

i won't necessarily be using it for vehicle recovery but more for winching logs out of forestry (with the appropriate scavenging licence of course!!)

Surrounded by 1000's of acres of tree's and it would be a shame to leave the fallen ones to just rot!!! :augie

Winch-it sell pretty good winches that are a good price but also pretty good quality.

10,000 t0 13,000 lb would be perfect, no need to go bigger.

I would usually say go for a synthetic rope but a wire rope would suit tree winching as it's more tolerant to abuse. Still need to be careful.

goldfish 9.5 from david bowyer £500 and excellent.. or more budget but got top rated for the cheaper range at £250 the 13000 apache available from craddocks, not fast but constant and steady, in fact I did a day course winching and out of the 3 trucks that started mine was the only one running at the end of the day.. I will be fitting it to the rear and goldfish on front.

ive got a winch-it winch full wireless remotes with a cable for 250 quid delivered been used for nearly 2 years and no probs so far cant fault it
