Hi guys, my recirculate button doesnt work on the 05 plate Terrano. My old one had a slider control with a proper clunk so knew all was well but this thing must be an electrical solenoid or something that hasnt worked since I bought the truck.

Does the switch light up when you press it ? find mine takes maybe 30 seconds or so to kick in but TBH don't really notice much difference when it is switched on apart from the blower fan being noisier but my cabin filter could do with changing

I'd check through the fuses to see if any have blown first, if all ok i'd prob pull the centre dash out & check behind the heater control panel to make sure the switch is still plugged in before tracing back to the heater motor

How does the centre dash pull out, its totally different to my old truck.

It's not that much different Jim:thumbs take stereo out & remove the screws there, take out ash tray & remove the 2 screws there like your MK2 then remove the panel around the gear stick by pulling it up as it's just clipped in place & you'll find 2 screws at the bottom of the centre dash & pull the lot forwards like the older ones carefully

Hmm sounding complicated compared to my old truck. Hmm wondering if its worth just living with it?

I would personally, my buttons are a smidge different, I have 3

Screen demist at top

A/c button in center

And "max ac" underneath which I believe to be recirc, as is with my aircon also the fans need to be on to activate the light.

Might be worth a look :nenau

Same set up as mine Alex
No Jim it's dead easy & will take the same amount of time to get off as the older ones:D

Buttons are the same as mine and yes tried it with the fan on.

Will take a look tomorrow, time for bed now as I walked Penyghent today so tired:eek:

I think i will go along with sweety on this.On how to remove the stereo and screws etc.Same on my 2000 and 2001 truck. If the light for the recirculation button is not on, Then i would certainly be looking at fuse's. Or wiring. Does everything else work on that part of your heating console? Also have you noticed any other peculiarities?

Hi Bry, everything seems to work ok other than the lights on the heater controls don't always light up when the lights are on. Give the controls area a tap on the lights come on. Suppose that could indicate a loose connection. Will check fuses first though.

haha I have to tap my controls now to make the light come on!

as for the button, id fix it - I use it to get the windows clear all round when steamed up, mine seems to work superb.

Glad its not just me Clivvy:lol

As for fixing, well ots stuck in the open position so getting air flow no problem at all with steaming up. It's just useful when youre stuck behind a particularly smelly exhaust.

Yeah i am thinking , maybe a dry joint or a dodgy wire.Cos sometimes my heating controls(the one that changes the direction of heat) light fails to come on.

I used to have a ford orion that did the same. It was a plastic sheet with tracks on that had broken. Ford sold it as a complete control assembly so I soldered wires to each bulb holder:thumbs

Just debating whether I can really be bothered taking it all apart or not.

Yeah, its a lot of effort just to fix a tiny light.I can live with my intermittent problem . providing you can hear it kicking in it should be ok.

Update

Just a quick update.

Tried the switch again and I was wrong the green light does tuen on with the switch. However the note of the fan doesnt change so Im still thinking the flap is not moving.
When I bought the car it had the usual dripping water from the metal panel above the heaterbox. I repaired that but noticed the fan motor squeaks, so when Ginge was stripping a truck down I bought the fan off him but it came with the whole heater box. Took a look and can see the motor that operates the intake flap, wondering if this is damaged due to the water leak?

So where abouts is this located when its on the car?
