So I rang up nissan today and booked the old girl in for the recall :lol

I asked the chap what they do, apparently they renew the whole system and have to order the bits... So I'm going in Friday to have the work done, I will take pictures if at all possible :naughty

Nissan will have a fit when they see my beast :augie

What recall? :nenau

What years and models does this apply to:nenau

Well at first I thought it was a check over, but what I gather from today's phone convo he said "a complete renewal of the whole system" :nenau

Passenger airbag can deploy unexpectedly :thumb2

It will be interesting to see if "Nissan" complete the replacement as the front bumper is not original, and could affect the deployment of the airbags in an accident.

Lets see what they say on Friday...

Yes I also look forward to this, I did explain on the phone as best as possible

The whole thing could have repercussions across all 4x4 vehicles with mods like winch bumpers etc..

Rustic you raise some very good points here, like the patrol winch bumpers and the likes, these must be catered for. Perhaps they only deploy under load or something? Perhaps G force?

There are also airbags in the seats too?

Recall, what bloody recall :nenau, when we had a Honda, they would contact you and tell you about a recall.
Alex, where did you find out about this mate ??

I brought this up several times. There was an article in the news about it, not only terranos effected.

Ring nissan and check :thumb2

IIRC, I think there are 4 in total, all inside the body, so the bumpers probably make no real difference. One is under the passenger seat, and another is behind the handbrake. There are also 2 satellite sensors for side impact in the bottom of the "B" pillar.
