rear windscreen

Something very weird happened yesterday.

I was driving and my rear windscreen exploded. Not a stone etc..... I turned on the defroster and after about 1 min it just exploded !!!!!

You might think something on the back hit it or something, but the car was not moving and on the back the boxes are nearly empty with a few apples in it !!!!!!

is a 01 terrano back window will fit my 96 ? :bow

I got lots of part so far from it so it would be great if it was !

This happened when I was a passenger in a vectra, what caused the vectra screen to go was one of the connectors on the windscreen was not making very good contact, maybe it has been knocked or something, and partially seperated from the screen, but because the connection was poor, it overheated and since the screen is toughened and not laminated the whole screen shattered like yours.

So I think this was the cause, it would take a short time for the connection to heat up........

Regarding the fit of the rear screen, I don't know, but if there is a difference it will be quite a lot, as why change for the sake of it.

So if it is the same width, height etc I would assume it will be the same.

Not sure it does Seb. The whole tailgate is the same and will fit but I seem to recall the MkII rear screen has a 'dip' in it above the door handle to the right of the spare wheel as you look from the outside, whereas the MkIII/IV is straight I think.....?

both the Mk 1 & the Mk 2 have the dip it is where the wiper parks, don't know about the Mk 3 though, Rick

I can get a new fited replacement fro €200 so will be easier to do that way.

Well, it's all done now..... I have some special wiring on the back with light flashing when coaching or organizing sport events and speakers for microphone etc....
