Hi Guys,

Well, it has only taken me until now, to think about removing the rear set set, it has never been used, and whilst it has taken load space, I could never be bothered......I am now.....

I have just taken a socket set to it, to find it...unsurprisingly......very tight on the threads...

So, before I stuff something up properly......are they held by captive/welded nuts on the underside, or loose nuts that require a second spanner underneath......

If only captive nuts, then I will undo as far as possible, then squirt some wd40 onto the threads and let it soak a while before attempting any further action.

Any thoughts would be very welcome......thank you......:bow

They are captive nuts. You can actually see the ends of the threads under the car if you want to get under and clean them up, but I did like you mentioned, wind out a little, spray then wind in... repeat for what feels like forever.

I never bothered to remove the mounts in the end though, as they make handy strap down points at the front of the boot, and it meant I did not need to find something to fill the holes.

The seat on my 1997 was removable on the hinges. Red clip each side. I didn't remove the hinges just in case,

Why are you removing bolts to remove the seat? Or are you completely removing the mountings. I removed the mountings to weld the car, I used rustics technique of tighten slacken tighten slacken and eventually all mine worked loose pretty easily.
If you are removing the mountings then replace the bolts with a bit of copper slip then you can refit if needed.

OK Guys, thank you for the replies......in my haste to attack the bolts, I didn't notice that they could unclip......I will review this and keep the mounts, although the seat set will be ditched as it has and never will be used....
Thank you all once again.......:thumb2

Lol. Slow down a little....

Should have gone to spec savers :)
