Hi, ive searched and searched here, i know ive seen it some where..

ok, so back doors squeaking now. and one point me in that bit that needs adjusting..

Thanks

Hi Zippy if you slacken off the 2 screws that hold the latch in place on the O/S of the door opening & move it towards the inside of your motor just 1-2mm it should shut it up:thumb2if the latch seems stuck a slight tap with a hammer will free it for you

wonderful, will get my screwdrivers out as soon as possible.. i like hitting things with a BIG hammer too!

Zippy just check thats what it is first by wrapping some plastic around the bit mounted to the body and shut the door on it...

oh right. i know when its squeaking like mad if you open the door it stops.
so im sure its that

Have you checked the spare wheel bolts? I had this problem about 6 months ago and undid the spare wheel bolts, applied some WD40, refitted and the noise stopped!
Might be worth a try.

oh thats a good idea.

will make it easyer to chage the spair when needed too, will look at both

Zippy, is it a rear passenger door or the tailgate?

If it's the tailgate it is probably the outer skin where the spare wheel bracket fits. Apparently there are some spot welds that hold the skin to the inner frame of the tailgate, these break and cause a squeak. The fix is to bolt straight through the spare wheel bracket, the outer skin and the inner frame. I've not seen it on mine but I do remember the fix as it has cropped up a few times.

rear door

hi zippy 565
may be worth checking the strap that sits under door to stop it opening to far mine used to rattle and squeek so i spray greased it .instant cure .
had a simular problem with the disco and found it was the locating plate just below the striker plate it had worn through the plastic sleeve so metal to rust contact .cured that with a SMACK WITH ME HAMMER.

ooh, get a few things to spray with WD40 and hit with a hammer.. will have a "bash" tomorow

cant do that the kids start to sing along.. id have to wear ear plugs, then not hear the SAT NAG

we gain a squeak/rattle at 70mph, could try really slamming door. worked for me for a while!

worth checking spare mount, corrosion around the studs can lead to vibration noise.

also spot welds inside door frame have been touched on by others.

ok update.
wheel off all nuts tightend, oiled ect.

all back on,
still squeeks.

so where are the spot welds inside door frame and what where do i both through?

Ian, I've got a few people at work that I'd like to "SMACK WITH ME HAMMER" :lol.

Zippy, I like the term "SAT NAG", I've not heard that before, nice one. :thumbs

just dont say it to the wife when shes close enough to hit!

Back to topic, when I open the doors on mine, if its been sat in the sun, sometimes the door seals can become unseated, so I end up pushing them back into place. My brother, (who works for Lexus), says you can get a "gel", (for want of a better word), that you rub on dry seals to prevent this, (which can cause leaks), and it prevents squeaks.

Just an idea Mate. Lee..:thumbs
