Can anyone help me, I'm thinking of getting a rear ladder for my terrano as you can stand on the safari roof rack I've got :D, my mate is also making a roof tent so we can go away camping without sleeping in the same vehicle:lol. Anyone recommend anything? Possibly modify a discovery one.

Are you sure the roof is up to it?.

I only ask because my roof bars have stickers on them saying max load 75Kg, which is only about 11stone, excluding the weight of the tent, sleeping gear etc., you mate would have to be pretty light weight...:lol

thats on the bars tho when on a rack the weight is spread over a greater area, ryan you would be better off with a mitsi style ladder they use the whole door to fasten on and not just the top and middle

Find a local engineering/welding place, they could knock you one up to your specification in box section steel, probably cheaper than buying one from Ebay.:nenau Stainless steel would be nice.:D

No I mean just stick it on the ground. If you put a tent on the roof there won't be any space for supplies etc on there.

Can't have both.

Good point as I'm going to have most of the supplues up there eg food etc.

Ryan, how about a pop up roof, like some camper vans have, I'm sure you could fit something from one of the narrow type campers like a fiat or Mazda Bongo.
Get one that has 2 hammock style beds, sorted :thumb2

But..... then you can't have a roof rack...:lol

I would build an off road tin tent, and just tow it with you... the Aussies have some great ones. Use the T2, wheels, so you do not need to carry more spares, fit/fabricate a high level towbar, so you keep your departure angle good, and once you are out in the middle of nowhere, you strike camp, dump the trailer, and have even more fun in the T2 going solo.
