Its always the simple things that pee you off or end up causing minor but unnecessary damage, so heres an idiot guide to removal of the rear door card.

1. Look down into the recess in the arm-rest that functions as a door pull and remove the plastic blank that you will see, then remove the screw thats underneath. Then remove the whole plastic recess because it will stop the door card coming off at the end.

2. Open the ash tray until its at right angles to the door......its located at the top by a lug on the end of a metal spring clip thats clearly visible, and on the bottom by a small moulded lug on the ashtray itself.....push down on the spring clip and the lug will come out of its locating hole and the ashtray will fall out. Then remove the screw thats behind it, fixing it to the door frame.

3. Next, using a big screwdriver with a bit of cloth over the blade to stop scratches, go gently all the way round the edge of the door card between it and the door frame, popping the plastic clips out.....do it carefully as they break easily.

4. Finally, lift the door card out and up (theres a lip on top that drops over the top of the door frame so don't just yank it).

Refitting is just a reversal of the procedure, not forgetting to refit the plastic membrane first if you've interfered with it.
