the old girls (t2) rear end was a bit to lively in the wet, kept letting go on roundabouts, so i checked the oil and found EP oil in it, so drained axle and gave a bit of a clean and found a bright orange sticker next to filler plug "ONLY USE LSD OIL" so how come some wally filled it with the wrong oil?? :nenau:doh

beats me, any ideas:lol

also there is a strong smell of gear oil in truck, does anyone know where the axle wading pipes go to?? :nenau

'RTFM' costs extra mate! LOL

can't remember the rear but the front diff just has a small rubber pipe that flops about like a limp dick on top of the engine. Least thats what it says in the manual.....:lol but don't think it would case a smell in the car...

last time I smelt that was when Pete tipped his truck over - sure you haven't just spilt a bottle in the car?

i think it's coming from the rear axle pipe:rolleyes: i can see it disappearing up behind the tank, it was pouring down so i might have another look friday, could cut the pipe and rerun it, and see if smell goes. or bye a box of smelly's :lol:naughty

i think it up behind the trim on the diesel filler side, well some things in there any ways, found it when thinking of fitting 12v sockets that side. I fitted them the other side in the end..

you sure its inside the truck? the front one defo isn't....and why would oil be coming out of that pipe unless it had been massively overfilled? weird...

Gear oil smell is often a sign of split gear lever gaitor on these trucks.

thanks guy's, i will investigate further, paul i don't have oil coming out of pipe, just fumes, i wondered if it was coming in via the axle breather pipe, and i will definately check the gear lever gaitor aswell. :augie:doh
