Got my drum off today on the passenger side and the linings look pretty thin especially on the shoe nearest the front of the car. Exactly how thick should they be?

Also the rear wheel cylinder, one of the pistons is further out than the other. I'm pretty sure that this should be about equal seen as I have only taken the drum off and not really fiddled. Will try and get a pair of grips or something to compress the pistons. Hoping one of them isn't seized.

As usual advice welcome.

No need for anything special to test the pistons just thump each shoe in turn which should push the pistons front to rear, rear to front, if they do not move then one or both are very tight, re shoe thickness if they have worn as they should the thin one is done when about 1.5 mm thick, the thick one should be about the same or a little thicker, Rick
