The edges of my backing plate are rotted away. Just how much is allowed before it's an MOT fail?

How difficult are they to replace? Hoping the half shaft won't need disconnecting but I'm guessing it will.

When I asked our MOT tester about it for our T1, the guy said that as long as where the mechanical components were located was still sound, the rest does not matter...

So basically, the cylinder, handbrake and lever points have to well clear of the rust...

The thin cover plate that blends into the grove on the drum is just a dirt shield and does not matter, the main back plate is a good 3 mm thick and have yet to see one rusted badly, Rick
