I have just removed my rear brake drums to check on the linings and wheel cylinder condition.

Everything is fine but when I adjusted up the offside rear brake adjuster wheel I have gone a tad too far and need to slacken it off a couple of notches as I can't rotate the drum by hand.

I have a small hooked rod to push off the ratchet but can't remember which way to turn the wheel to let it off a bit.

I have looked in the R3mR manual and I have been unable to shorten the adjuster any one have any idea how to turn the wheel and which way ? It was quite free when the drum was off and I had lubricated it with a spot of WD40.

have you slackened off the handbrake cable adjuster as it could be this that is keeping tension on the adjuster rod and making it hard to turn.
not sure if your set up is the same as the r2o but its clockwise to lenghten the rod and anti clockwise to shorten it.
hope this helps you out.

on the mav its down to tighten and up to loosen .... it will make sence im sure:confused:

Brake adjuster

Thanks everyone I managed to rotate the adjuster with a bit of help with a small hammer blow. Its nice and free now but I ended up removing the other drum to check the rotation.

Its as you have all said its upwards to slacken the adjuster with the lever pushed off with a small rod with a small bend on it.

The R50 manual was spot on I just was not sure if it was reversed from nearside to offside.
