I've been scratching my head in pursuit of a decent solution for mounting a rear facing awning on the ol' truck. The awning is needed as this is where the kitchen is.
I finally found out that these things have a name and bought some awning rails. I already have the awning with Keder strip.
Question is whether I should screw them straight into the bodywork (and test it out next week) or wait until I get a full roofrack made and attach it to that.
I'm impatient.

Certainly is mate, and that's an alternative too.
I get the feeling that screwing the awning rails through the roof panel isn't getting a thumbs up at the moment. :nenau

Depends how water tight you can get it, would be bad to get any rust round that area. I think it would be high enough but you might have to have it sloping down towards the truck for the rain to run off.
It's a neat solution really, lightweight and easy too put up, the more I think about it the more I like it :thumb2

I watched them vids and I'm impressed. Don't seem too difficult too build:naughty
Definitely need a full roof rack to fix it to though. :thumb2
