If I remove the arb of the rear of my truck will it effect the mot at all and what are the advantages off road
 
Won't affect the MOT I don't think, but you'd better tell your insurer. Advantages are a bit more flex when off-roading, which should stop wheels floating in the air quite so often. The Limited Slip Diff makes this less of an issue than it might be, because it should keep you moving even if one rear wheel is in the air. It's considered better to have more rubber in contact with the ground though.

it should effect it as if the truck/car was fitted with them and its missing then its a fail but and a big but if the mot guy is not use to seeing the terrano or mavrick then he may not no it was fitted out the factory so will pass it only 1 way to find out fight :lol
 
If you remove the rear one, make sure your front arb bushes are in good nick
 
Removing enables it to flex alot more but you get more from longer shocks in combination.

+2" shocks, 2" body lift and standard springs.

I wanna be able to do that and if my motor looks half as good as that when I'm finished I will be well pleased
 
OK a question for those that have more knowledge on the subject than me, on my SWB dedicated off road motor I have removed the front ARB but still have the rear, the P&P sites that I use have many places that I lean almost to the point of rolling, so will removing the rear ARB improve this or make it worse, I just cannot make up my mind, Rick
 
Not sure and had a couple too many beers too think deeply about it, BUT

a poster from years ago called teranosaurus said it was essential to ditch both front And rear arb for half decent articulation

Also I ran without both for a week or so and on road it was fine unless really pushing hard

running without it will give alot more flex, you have done it the opposite way round to most tho Rick, as most run with no rear arb and leave the front one on :D
 
Fez's Maverick leans like my 2CV going around bends! It's quite comical.

Not sure it'd affect stability on side slopes though. A body lift probably would though. It's all about centre of gravity. The ARB will just stop one side lifting/dropping too much compared to the other side. Don't forget that a lot of fancy 4x4s these days can disconnect the ARB when in off-road mode using posh electronics. It's just a hindrance off-road.
 
nowt to do with budget, its unnecessary and just gives something else that could go wrong

I removed the front when I took the front diff out to swap it for the locked one, just have not got round to doing the rear as yet but think I will before the next play day as consensus seems to be remove them, thanks every one, Rick
 
Rick, I think removing the rear arb will help as the spring closest to the higher of the slope will be allowed to compress more.
