can any one help with READING ENGINE FAULT CODES 3.0L 2002

cant access with code box (saying no connection) and local frendly garage say it needs to go to Nissan.

the car was running ok with intermittent code showing re-set by turning off and then restarting,
but its now on all the time and will hardly run with very low power and noisy

Does any one no if I have the same MAFF sensor as the 2.7 I was told it could be this, the local Nissan garage want 229.00 for one

its same engine as mine just with intercooler so patrol parts should be same?

could you remove the maf and post a photo? or find any part numbers on it?

I dont have a clue just trying to be helpfull

Dave,
I have never tried this but it is worth a try and I do not know for sure if it will work or even if it is possible to read codes on yours with out a code reader.

1 Ensure the accelerator pedals is fully released.
2 Switch the ignition ON but DO NOT start the engine.
3 Wait 3 seconds.
4 Within the next 5 seconds fully depress then fully release the accelerator pedal 5 times.
5 Wait 7 seconds.
6 Fully depress the accelerator pedal and hold it for approximately 10 seconds.
7 The Check Engine Light should be flashing. Fully release the accelerator pedal.
8 Read codes as described in the Code Format Description below.

The code is made up of four groups of flashes each representing a digit
A long flash indicates the 'thousands' digit
'Hundreds' 'Tens' and 'Ones' are groups of short flashes respectively
A shorter pause separates each group of flashes
A long pause separates each trouble code
A '0' digit is indicated by 10 flashes with this system

now if it was the contact breaker points needing re gapping Im your man

Hi toolbox

did try your procedure but it did not work, Have tride a code reader two types infact but wont talk with ecu think is going to be a Nissan only Job ???

changed softwere on code reader and NOW GOT FAULT CODE 0077FP-P7-F/INJ. TIMG

run active timing test on code reader timing -19.5 degrees

Any ideas any one or new fuel pump ???

Dave,
I am having trouble cross-referencing you found code, I will have a look at what I have at work in the morning, but from my day to day experience with the type of injection pump you have an injection pump generated timing error code, is often caused in the first place by fuel starvation either a partial blockage, dirty filter or poor fuel lift pump pressure. This can also be caused by air in the fuel. The downside is that this in its self can damage the injection pump if the problem is not found soon enough, damaging the timing valve and the actual pump casing that it runs in.
Get your garage to run a separate supply of diesel direct to the pump, I use a gallon can held up as high as you can and siphon feed the pump, this will rule out any of the above if the pump is still ok.
If no good then you will need to get the pump looked at, use a reputable Bosch agent as they will be able to retrieve any error codes from the ECU within the injection pump, it may work out cheaper to have the pump reconditioned than buy a new unit, the last pump like this I had done with a similar problem cost about £600.
If it is the pump that is the problem get the fuel supply and pressure to the injection pump check to make sure it doesn’t happen again with the new pump.

Hi guys
Pump stuck on max advance so its a recon pump needed any one got any numbers or prices, local garage say they can get it done but need
a bench mark for price and quality

Speed is important to

thanks Davemud
