had me a rattle for a while now, and decided its time to sort it out as well as do a full fluids change. anyway, just need to check what the rattle could be. i am fairly sure its "suspension area" related. and sounds front end. I had an advisory last mot for both front shock rubbers worn, could it be that? If so, do I need to just buy new shocks (do these have the rubbers on them?)

hope you can help!

i had anti roll bar pollybushes of ebay for the maverick and there realy realy easy to do

cheers Zipster, i'll check and get some new links anyway as they are fairly cheap.

Larson, not sure IF it is the ARB bushes, but you may be right because the advisory does just say "shock absorber bushes slightly worn" and when the rattle is going, its over rough ground when the shocks come into play, perfectly fine on smooth tarmac!

as far as I know though, the whole shock comes with everything?

it wont have arb bushes, you can get shocks of milers also. buy everything at once save postage

right, will do, just need to be sure its the shocks first, but i reckon its 0% the shocks, due to the advisory, point is though, if the rubebrs are worn, will that cause rattle??

Shock bushes do get bushed long before the shocker itself.
Try some one like polybush or superflex or the like for the bushes on their own:thumbs

normal ones that fix to the wish bones, but there are two where the bar is fixed to teh body/chassie..

OHH sorry yeah I know what you mean, ill get my head under there on Sunday for a look see, but it does sound liek its under the arches..still, sound travels funny, dunnit.

interesting, Larson has suggested this and sent me some handy links to Milners. ive never ever changed suspension bushes, but really would like to do it myself, is this possible?

Piece of pish :D
Just jack it up and WD40 the bottom bolt on the shock, apply socket, remove bolt, catch bits of bush :sly then stuff the new ones in and reverse:thumbs
Simples:cool:

Awesome! So does the shock itself slot in the top and bolt at the bottom? I hope I can do this I'll be well chuffed.

You can leave the top in place just do the bottom bolt. You'll need to compress the shocker a little then let it back again when you've got the bushes back in:D

Clivvy, if you get stuck with car jacked up and need Anti Roll Bar Links just give me a shout I got a pair you can borrow and replace if it makes the job quicker.

Jim

Thanks Jim, much appreciated. im planning to have a look Sunday, then do whatever needs doing the following weekend because I want to do my DIFF oil, gearbox oil and oil oil! well, i hope so if its not TOO expensive.

with regards the shocks, I was thinking about replacing them you see, so is it bolt at the top, bolt at the bottom?
