Following Ryans thread where he did the same here is my effort.
Thanks to Ryan for selling me his spare led number plate light for the very reasonable price of £5 inc p&p :thumb2
First I pulled panel off rear door from bottom working up, then mounted plate and light, pretty straight forward. used a bit of copper rtv on back of light unit as thats all i had to water proof. Stuck plate on with numberplate sticky pads, available from your car parts shop
Then I pulled N/S/R 1/4 panel off as i guessed there would be the loom there for the lights etc, not happy to be greated with a vile bodge load of hideous scotchlocks, but heho, I'll do it properly and solder it in :
First, root new twin cable through the sleeve from rear door :
rooted through both grommets and taped up again, see the yellow insulation tape:
Then cable tie to sleeve and push grommits back into place ( I couldnt go through the sleeve as it was too tight hence why i opted to cable tie along loom )
Then solder twin cable to light and cable tie to existing door loom (left ties long for picture so u can make them out, i cut them off before i refitted door cover )
Strip wires and find the feed wire in the loom with test light, for the rear sidelights :
On my truck it was this blue and red wire, solder POSITIVE wire here (sorry about this crap picture )
Then tape up the soldered wire, find an earth ( I just wrapped the wire around the earth screw that the guy used to earth the tow bar electrics and trapped it between the 2 ring terminals and tightened screw down) Then cable tie up again nice, and stick it all back together
And test it ... IT WORKS :thumb2
