Seeing where you are I consider myself lucky!Which dept are you?
They are very good Here, always clearing the ditches and run offs but it has rained here almost non stop for three weeks and the ground is just saturated so now it just runs strait off . It hasn't flooded this bad since 1997Done a awful lot of travelling in France and always thought they had water under control judging by the size of most of the open drains and catch pits observed, but maybe not, or maybe the powers that be have done the same as in the UK and stopped spending on river dredging etc and spent it on wild life rubbish, my travelling was in the 70's so plenty of time for things to deteriorate, Rick

Rick mate, your spot on, the ditch and land drains in this country are crap, most around here are filled with silt and trees, if this simple system was kept clear, we wouldn't have nowhere near the flooding inland that were seeing.
France does look after it's drain systems very well
That's jut typical of a government department they can spend as much as they want as long as they can say it saves money, my sister works for a GD and they centralized there purchasing so they could get better deals, now they pay 25£ for a packet of copy paper(not a box) a packet !!!!Read in today's paper the Environment Agency have been selling off their dredgers, as being past their prime, and need to sell while they still have some life in them, one was a supper dredger with 3000 hours on the clock, but they say not to worry we will just hire in subcontractors, unbelievable, Rick
