I have mis-laid/lost the plastic screw cap for the radiator expansion tank. Anyone experienced the same and if so, what plastic cap might fit. My alternative is to buy a complete expansion tank from a breakers at around £25.........

What model vehicle do you have, ?
On my Mav the cap is under no pressure as it is also vented, so any cap will do that just happens to fit.
A basin sink plug may fit, then you can put a chain on it and you will never loose it

It's a Terrano 1997 2.7dti.

Like the idea of a sink plug, if the water does happen to expand out of the top will it goes clockwise or anti-clockwise ?

Clockwise in the Northern Hemisphere or anti-clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere. Not sure what it will do on the equator !
