Radiator expansion tank Fills up Radiator Empties

On a long run water seems to be forced from the radiator to the expansion tank. It doesnt go Back!

Any ideas?

No overheating provided I refil radiator and empty the expansion tank

Help!

Sounds like there is a blockage somewhere from the expansion tank to the radiator.
Sure someone will come along and give you a better mechanical tech on this!!

What motor have you got and what engine have you got??

Maybe something to do with thermostat or pump!! :?

Its a ford Maverick 2.7 turbo diesel.

I had something similar a while back, turned out be the head gasket. :? :smile:

Yeah I was thinking pressure leaking from cylinders. A garage should have a test kit for exhaust gases in the coolant. I'm no mechanic but it kind of figures right to me.

Change thermostat could be blocked on bleed vent.

Try a cheap simple solution first that is to replace you radiator cap. :wink:

Just had the same problem and solved it.

Often overlooked as it is only a small thing but plays a major part.
