Decided to check my Mini filter on the truck today.

On the R3mR the banjo nut to the fuel pump is accessible without having to remove the PAS pump so that makes the job a little easier.

Undid the Banjo nut very carefully and lifted it out - there was no spring fitted so not sure if someone has lost it previously or if no Mini filter fitted.

There is a metal spacer between the botton of the banjo and the pump housing so three washer in all. They were fibre ones and one fell down onto the undertray as expected.

As I had a nice box of copper washers to hand I have used copper ones instead and they sealed nicely.

I did not have a suitable pick to try to remove any filter that might be down there as its difficult to see whats down the hole ! I am going to check with Nissan Parts and order a spring & filter if its part of the specification.

Pretty sure I can see a brass collar down the hole but not going to risk puncturing it until I have a spare.

Excellent pictures on the forum workshop section.

Hi. The brass collar you can see will be the top of the filter, I got mine out with a paperclip straightened out, then formed into a small (about 4mm) hook on the end. As far as I am aware there should always be a spring between the filter and the banjo - my T2 has the filter, spring, a washer either side of the banjo and the banjo itself, no other washers, so your extra washers may have been fitted to compensate for the missing spring.

The washer bit is like a spacer its quite substantial about 5 mm in thickness and it looks an original part it appears to hold the banjo unit away from the pump boss so that the pipework runs neatly under the pump area. Without the spacer the thread would hit the shoulder of the bolt and not tighten up.

I would have thought the spring sits inside the banjo bolt as its hollow and the spring presumably keeps the filter in situ and open to fuel flow so being absent should not affect the distance between banjo face and the pump body ?

Like you say I am pretty sure there is a filter in there.
