programming injection pump

Hi all,
Does anybody know what's involved in getting a 'fly by wire' injection pump reprogrammed? I'm changing the engine in my '99 Tdi and I don't know whether to fit the pump from the old engine (already programmed) or leave the new engine alone and have the pump reprogrammed. Can anyone help me out of my dilemma!

I presume being a 1999 version you have the Bosch VP37 pump, these do not have their own internal ecu so there is no programming or coding necessary, its just a matter of swapping the pump and timing it up.
