Help, do you have to bleed the system after draining the fluid from the cooler pipes or is it a case of start up the engine & top up the bottle the work the steering from side to side to get the fluid into the system :? :? :?:

As far as I'm aware they are self bleed, like you say work the steering till all bubbles have ceased.

glad you asked that question sweety. i have wondered how difficult it is to change the steering fluid and get the air out

After cutting P/S pipe to fix leak it was time to fill it back up. It's a self bleed system as cameraman has said  Just fill up the bottle & start up engine, I let it tick over of a few mins, then turned the steering from side to side with the revs at about 1K-1.5k to force fluid through faster. The pump will make a lovely noise at 1st then shuts up once the air is out.

T-jay the best way I can think of draining the fluid is to remove the rubber U bend pipe on the N/S & you will get out about 500ml of fluid which I think is 1/2 of the fluid in the system.

Hope this helps someone out
