Installed a power inverter , Iwent through where the main wiring loom goes was easy enough then put the inverter in the cradle that the old cd multi changer used to live in :lol It's wired to the fuse box so only comes on with the ignition

oooo spotted a crisp, am hungry now :lol :lol

Cool. Ive been thinking about fitting one in the Patrol for a while but not got round to it. Oh and I think you could have used some longer zip ties:lol

On another note im not impressed that you beat me with first post in this new thread by 4 minutes:doh:lol

i have been looking for longer ones to replace them with :lol

tbh i only used them until i could make a bracket to fix it in place, then i forgot :lol its very useful to have in there though, kids can use all their electrickery games and stuff and laptops can be charged etc.

R1cho, think I would be looking at that red wire rubbing the metal above the rubber on the main wiring harness, if it chafes = bad news, Rick

You could have went in via one of the rubber grommets to the left or right of the main harness as they take up to around 10mm wire:thumb2 but on my last T2 I ran my amp power cable the same way but went through the rubber boot & never had a prob but this time I used one of the side ones:augie

it goes through a hole i made in the rubber now rick, well away from the metal

Well done mate, can sleep better now, as a by did you supply the stickers for Alex, cos I want some, will PM if you did, even if you did not, Rick

when the ignition is on, did it through the fuse box

What is the output of your inverter?
I have an 800 Watt one, what size of cable should I use, I will be powering it from my spare battery behing LH headlanp, so I guess close on 3 metres metres of cable, perhaps the stuff sparks use for consumer units they are double insulated, well two coverings.
I am thinking 50 amp fuse where it joins the battery, unless I can get a larger one to take all 800Watts I guess around 85 amp would allow 1000 Watt on surge, my figures are based on W=AxV or A=W/V
Rick I guess this is your field
Currently it runs with crock clips it came with, short 1 metre cables, pain in the butt having to get it out from under passender seat every time I want to use it, I guess mine could live under the passenger seat, a lot closer to the battery
What route should I take?

If you don't have air con then it'll be easy to run the power cable from the second battery through the bulkhead via the air con drain blank but if you do have it you might still be able to feed the cable through between the drain tube & grommet the other 2 option are drill a hole in the bulkhead or run the cable across the engine bay & come in via one of the 3 grommets by the brake servo but the shorter the cable run the better. I'm not the best with electrics but have done a lot of car audio & TBH I don't think you'll need such a high amp rating prob about 40amp fuse would do
