At last I got round to fitting one of the power amps into the mav:sly
There was no room behind my dash 'cause of the air scoop so decided on under the passenger seat.
Took the seat out and basically bolted it to the underside of the seat frame. Had to make up a couple of brackets and drill a few holes and bingo, it's in:thumbs
That's about 10cm off the deck so will be safe from all but ADZ style water driving:lol
Lining up the amp for size

Wiring is zip tied to the loom under the seat and then under center consul to the head unit and LED switch

Then bolted to the frame so there's enough slack in the cables to move the seat back and fore, and a nice bit of heat for navigators bum:D

I'll get the other one under the driver's seat next:naughty

Good job:thumb2 What speakers are you planning to fit?

Got two 10" mid range in the back where the old arm rests used to be(see photo link for pics )
JBL 6 x 9 s in the doors at the mo but they'll be turfed out soon for some Vibe units.
Cant see awt in the mirrors when it's on :lol

You should try fitting some good quality audio wiring to your amp, it will make a big difference in how the sounds come out :thumb2 :D

it took me ages to decide where to mount the amp in my terrano, its amazing for such a bog car there is a total lack of hiding spaces inside :(

Posh wire posh price:eek: I guess it may be marginally better but there's too much other noise going on to realise the diff. in my opinion:augie
However if you've got some offcuts I'll experiment:cool:

offcuts lol, these wires have been with me for years and lots of cars. i just about managed to stretch them to fit my terrano

I know its all extra money But I know you can get a half decent full wiring kit for £15 from back street car shops now :thumb2

but as long as you are happy with yours thats what matters :thumb2

Well that's not as bad as I thought:D
I may just take your advise when I get the other amp in:cool:

Mixed feelings about paying shed loads for the wire.

As a hi fi buff of many years ago I spent silly money on a few metres of cable. Couldnt hear the slightest difference :nenau probably my knackered lugs mind you.

Another thing to think of when its going into a Terrano as opposed to a bentley. With all that rattling and growling going on around you will really be able to hear the difference

ps if you do have too much money please send some to me.

its all to do with the resistance of the cable and its effect on z ( the impedance ) the higher the resistance of the cable , the harder the amp has to perform .

also for those that are interested and havent fallen asleep yet , many manufacturers state power output as pmpo ..... this is peak music power and is a load of tosh , the figure you are really looking for is rms ( root mean square ) and can be obtained by multipling the pmpo by .707 .

rms is a better indication of the power of a amp .

or in laymans terms the better the cable the more wiggly amps can get down it to run the speaker.

Point is are we capable of hearing the difference between a reasonable wire from maplins and multi strand low impedance oxygen free gold tipped multi bucks offering inside a diesel 4x4 ........ hmmmm.....:nenau ;)

depends how high you have the volume , how good your speakers are , and how noisy your truck is lol

and lets be honest Terrano/mavericks arent competing with Bentley/maybach/merc et al for quiet swish progression on road never mind creaking and groaning off :D

and thats just the passengers :lol

Mine could be considered a bit "rally car" ish, inside :lol
Amp is 80 watts RMS per chanel, and the speakers are 10" mid range jobs. So they dont really warrant fancy speaker wires but the front ones will get some new ones cause the nissan wires are a bit twee:rolleyes:

another thing to be carefull of is , a lot of speakers state their power capability in pmpo ,so if you ( for example ) buy some 200 watt (pmpo) rated speakers , their true power handling capacity in rms is only 140 watts ( approx )
