Hi folks,

I have the chance to buy a 2ltr petrol 2004 Reg Honda CRV SE Sport. It has 64,500 miles, one owner from new who was a doctor and with the exception of one a full Honda service history. It does have a 4x4 system of sorts although I am fully aware nothing to remotely compare to the Terrano I have.

It is for sale sadly due to bereavement through a trusted mechanic on behalf of a customer as he works on her other car.
Now here is the thing, she wants £2700 for it but it has a almost brand new
Pro Rider Easy Fold Mobility Scooter + electric lift and charge system professionally fitted into the boot.
My question is does anyone have any experience of the CRV, and does anyone know if there is a second hand market for mobility stuff? As besides driving to the pub and using the mobility scooter to get home :) I have no use for the kit.

Thanks folks

Ermm think your licence is still at risk if you drive a mobility scooter home when over the limit, but ask Briggie about it he could be interested or may know more than I on the subject, Rick

Don't know about the car, but as for second hand disability stuff, we have been clearing Suz's dad's house, and there was an old stair lift, which I didn't fancy trying to get in to the car to take to the tip, so I chucked it on Ebay for £20, listing exactly what was wrong with it, and to be honest, really playing it down.. it sold for £190..

I just listed the steel access ramp we fitted in the rear garden for him, and for the week it sat at £100, then in the last 5mins shot up to £340, and a guy is driving down from Bradford to pick it up tomorrow.

He had two of those recliner/riser chairs, but they only sold for the start price of £75, and when we looked, I think the market might be flooded with those, as even our Tesco's free ad board has about 6 of them on there.

I have not listed the scooters yet, as Michael's driving left a lot to be desired, and while mechanically they are good, the plastic body work is very beaten up, but I have seen second hand ones, for sale, so you should be OK to make a bit of money back if you do your homework, and stick it on Ebay.

Hi Rick,
Thanks, to be honest though I think I would be interested in selling the stuff on as soon as possible to bring down the overall cost. Sadly though it will still mean saying goodbye to the Terrano . For now anyway as it is more of a case of the right car at the right time, right now.

Cheers Lazy-Ferret,

Pleased to hear you have had some success clearing some of your stuff and good to know there might interest in the equipment. Will do the research, make a few calls and see what I turn up. I think the car is at a okay price from what I can tell given the condition etc so selling the equipment would be a bonus. Very reluctant to move on from the Terrano though.

Thank you. Ironically I have been doing quite well slowly selling bits off, mainly on Fleabay, but the Quad has turned into a nightmare, I have been messed around on both the listings, what with silly questions from people who have not even bothered to read the listing, through to a scammer in China winning, and then expecting me to send it out there, even though it said "local pick up only".

I know what you mean about the cars, the trouble is, the T2 is getting harder and harder to find good ones, and the later ones are so expensive on tax and LEZ charges that we can't even entertain one living here. I would be interested to know how you get on with the Honda, I must admit I always do a second look when I see one, they do look like fun.

We have been looking for ideas for the "Next Car", but the T2 has set the bar high, and everything else is just not living up to expectations so far.

Honda CRV

Hi folks,

Thanks folks

A good friend of mine has a a Honda CRV Diesel that his wife mainly uses he has had it about 7 or 8 years and he has found it very reliable. Only issues he has had have been with the air conditioning (age) & on the suspension putting on a warning light - stability control. The air con was about a £500 fix but the suspension issue was potentially more troublesome and expensive until he found a fix on U tube that cost him a couple of hundred quid to fix himself. He would have another one he says as it so reliable with never having had a breakdown or lack of starting. After he had fixed it he had a rear end crunch into a solid object when reversing that would have written it off. Lucky sod found a new rear tailgate in the same colour and he fixed it himself.

My sister has a 2012 CRV and has had it for over 12 months without any problems except(and apparently this is a common fault) The Tyre pressure sensor on one wheel is faulty. the only other thing I can add is that I fined the built in sat-nav very confusing.

as far as I'm aware you can still be done for driving a mobility scooter while drunk

As you can a horse.......:sly

Don't ask......

I've never seen a horse on a mobility scooter! :hide:

And it is this humor that means I won't be leaving, even if with a heavy heart the Terrano temporarily has to.

Many thanks to all for the shared experience on the Honda. I have said yes to wanting it. So hopefully I should be able to buy it, I should know if I can in a few days.

Pleased you are enjoying the Patrol Rick, it sounds like a powerful truck. I wish I had the space and time to work on the Terrano to bring it up to the standard I want it. For now if I get the Honda and run it for a bit then if i get on with it i will chuck some all terrain tyres on it. Then it should meet my needs for now, just perhaps not as much 'character' as the Terrano.
