My truck seems to run noticeably better when the fuel tank is very full, more power, more responsive, any clue on why this may be, running on straight Diesel. :thumb2

Would seem to suggest a restriction in the suction line, blocked or bad filter or poor lift pump, Rick

No sorry the lift pump is part of the injector pump, but you could get round that by fitting something like a Facet pump in the feed line, Rick

i went through that, fitted a lift pump but in end got an ip from rick and changed it,sorted.

Yes that will do the job, but you may need to do a bypass with a valve to limit the pressure, Rick

after changing ip my lift pump was not used and i put in the back of terry, but when away in my van the water pump packed up so scratch head time and a rummage in terry i found the lift pump so fitted it in van, mine was a self bleading one after re wiring and pipe work its still in and being used.only down side is a bit more noise when tap turned on.water soon cleared wvo out ant tea soon tasted ok.

What make of pump is yours? using for water sounds interesting, Rick

Sounds like a good old blockage to me Doug

Swap the fuel filter and bypass the pipes from and to the filter and lines on the rear of the bulkhead with clear 8mm I/D pipe and see if you get any bubbles.

My Maverick used to behave exactly like this, brim it full tank and it was fine, anything under half a tank and it was sluggish and used to get white smoke.

Turned out to be conifer needles and leaves in the swirl chamber in the tank that was blocking the pickup line :doh

I'm going to have a look in the tank then!
I have clear pipes going into and out of filter, no bubbles going in :nenau

Well, I've had the sender unit out and given it a clean, I think there is supposed to be some sort of little filter there but I couldn't find one. The swirl pot had a tiny bit of dirt in it and I disconnected the fuel filter and blew compressed air through the feed pipe. Seems to drive smoother so I'm happy, real test is when I park her facing slightly up hill instead of slightly downhill which I will do this weekend. I didn't want to do it through the week as I don't think my neighbours would appreciate me spending five minutes cranking and revving at 5:30 in the morning :lol:doh
