Changed maff sensor 6 months ago to sort out sluggish and lumpy running which sorted problem, now same problem again so changed fuel and air filter this morning to no avail. surely life expectancy of maff is more than 6 months????????????

There is a member on here who had one last 18mths

Like everything else electrical you get duffers. Take it bad to supplier and get a replacement as it will still be under warranty.

If they play stupid just quote the sale of goods act and tell them it is not fit for purpose.

let us know how you get on.

Hi if its an hitachi one like mine its easy to take to bits and clean. I do mine every 6 months. I have heard that some air filters are oily and this can contaminate the MAF....just a thought....regards .....bri

What did you clean yours with? my pal used brake cleaner but still needed to buy a new MAF ?

Out of interest Rich, was it a genuine MAF you fitted or a copyyou fitted.

Hi I use Isopropyl alcohol on a cotton bud, the one on a stick, you have to be gentle but you can see the muck come off, I just wipe the two elements.. regards ....bri

Afraid it wasn't a genuine part but just fitted another tonight and we are back to keeping up with traffic again lets hope this one lasts. This may sound stupid but what is there to clean on them is it just the contacts, if so what goes wrong with them

It seems the pattern part ones don’t seem to last very long.I fitted a pattern part one in a Volvo C70 the other day and it actually ran worse than with the original, then fitted a new Bosch one from Volvo (mega bucks) and all was ok, full power was restored.
The thread like parts of the sensor that sits in the inlet pipe often get covered in oil and muck from the breather system and air intake this can lead to the sensor miss reading the air flow.
