Wife reckons it takes 10 minutes to demise the front screen.

I've got three thoughts about this:
Dirty pollen filter
Air con regas
Use the engine "heater"button to the left of the steering wheel column. The problem with this is that the salesman did a "never press that button" with the wife, however the handbook indicates that this button assists with shortening the engine warm up period? Any thoughts on this, who is right, the handbook or the salesman?

Is the pollen filter an easy job to do? Air con regas can wait until spring or summer before we head off on holiday.

With cars I have had, it has been a dirty pollen filter, but my 2.7 Td doesn't have one, and it still takes ages to clear the screen.
A cheap test is to remove it, and try it without, before buying a new one.

The secret is to stop breathing until the car warms up....

Check the re-circulate lever actually works they have been known to become disconnected. You want it set to outside air as well.

Is the inside of the car damper than normal, check the carpets in the foot well on both sides.

When my cars were parked outside, I used to run a small 500 watt fan heater, set on a time switch, this cleared the screen, and de-iced it and made the doors easier to unlock, and you had a warm car. :thumb2

The aircon can assist with clearing the screen quicker, but once committed to the air con, as soon as you turn it down, the screen mists over, as it is cooler than the surrounding air.....:doh

I also have a pathy and must say does take it's time to warm up and clear window
Ur safe to use the engine heat button but aswell as increasing the revs it also gulps down the fuel
I would check u not got damp mats or coat/'blanket in truck other than that if u use air con while driving about will remove moisture out of air in truck so shouldnt mist as easy

Check the drain hose for the AC unit.cool/lukewarm air seems to work best on my d22 so try setting the temp lower.
to get rid of the saturated air put heater on full for as long as you can ,lower window ,and all the air is sucked out.youmay have to do this several times

I had one of those buttons on a Trooper, nothing but trouble!

As for the mist problem - I have this with my T2 this time of year, wet clothes wet coats, wet animals, etc. I think the interior just reaches critical moisture level. At the moment I have a heater and a dehumidifier plugged in inside the T2 over night. I do this once or twice during the winter and it usually works a treat after that :thumb2

Nothing damp in the car, only had it since the beginning of the month so we're only just getting used to it really. I can't recall my old Terrano being a PITA to demist, but wife leaves for work before I'm up & around usually, so I have not had chance to check what buttons she is or isn't pressing.

Anyone know where the pollen filter is, how easy or not is it to get to?

Hi Jon - not sure if you've sorted this yet....

I've got a '57 Pathfinder and have the same problems from time to time.
I usually put the aircon and the engine heater on (button to left of steering column) but even then it can still take a few minutes to clear - a real pain if you're in a hurry to get moving.

I've just bought the pollen filters (x 2) to see if this solves the problem.

I saw a clip on youtube which shows how to change them - you access them behind the passenger glovebox - takes about 5 minutes I think....

I'll let you know how I get on.....

I bought some caravan dehumidifier things last year, they seem to work pretty well at keeping the moisture at bay but you have to remember to plug them in indoors to recharge while you're out.

I don't think the problem is as much as she makes out. A new pollen filter is on the list, but she insists on rafting with the climate control rather than just hitting the front screen demist button and letting the CC sort itself out. She also ramps the temp up very quickly, and I think that slows the demise.
When I have been out with her in the car from cold I've just hit the front screen demist button and got her to leave it alone with a temp of 22 degs or so. Perfect.

I changed my pollen filters a couple of weeks ago after watching that clip on Youtube thinking it would be a 5 min job.

It took about 15 minutes because it was 0 degrees outside and dark and my glovebox didn't unclip like the one on Youtube - when I do it again I'll do it in daylight.

Worth doing as I was mortified at how much rubbish the filters had collected - they were filthy black and full of all sorts of debris - my Pathfinder's 4 years old and I guess they've never been changed. Main dealers probably don't change them - just tick the box on the service sheet and charge you.....

Did u get pollen filters from main dealer or is it something u get from anywhere

filter

Hi unipart do a pollen filter £14 deliverd to your door dont kno if this is a good price ?????? roy:cool:

Main dealer price for two is around £50 - £55 I think.

I got mine off ebay for £20 (for the two) off someone who'd sold his Pathfinder. They were boxed and unused and are genuine Nissan parts. The seller was local and had 100% postive feedback.
