took my 96 terrano in for its first ever bit of welding. rear wheel arch at end of sill.take couple of hours sir. will ring you when ready.so i waited nearly all day and then phoned them, nearly ready call in at 5.30.
fetched it paid, drove home opened rear door they burnt my interior and tried to cover with grey duct tape.they melted plastic door trim, rear washer pipe and all wiring runnin thro cill. and never said a thing.went back, mechanic said i burnt it, repaired what i could and told the owner. who said he forgot to tell me.

Maybe the only way when getting welding done, is to remove all bits from the area yourself.

When I had some welding done once on a mini, the paint on the other side caught fire and the welder never noticed as he was wearing a mask.:doh

Always have a fire extinguisher available, I had a Halon type at the time, before they were banned, and they left no residue.

I wont name and shame till this fiasco is sorted.they did say remove your stuff we will remove anything else that needs removing just didnt realise they meant by flame.

a friend of mine used to keep a washingup liquid bottle full of water on the welding trolley for small fires. I remember they day he needed it and some joker had filled it with parafin!

Reminds me of a case a little while ago, Swifty had a car in for welding, guy drove it into workshop, he and Swifty went home, Swifty started welding next day and saw smoke inside motor, but could not open door as owner had locked it up and taken keys, it was a ruined, did not catch fire as such but interior was bad, Rick

Nah the motor was scrapped, some time ago, but thanks any way, by the way it was a Ford somthing? Rick
