Ive just brought myself a L reg petrol terrano to 'do up' and sell on. At the moment im just sorting a few engine niggles and one of them is a noisy exhaust tappet.

On my diesel mav you can adjust them, but looking over this one and reading the workshop manual it seems you cant on these.

Im guessing its a case of replacing the valve lifter or is there another option??

Any help appreciated

ive just removed the rocker arm and realised theres air in the lifter. ill 'bleed' it off and see what its like after then

I'm assuming they're hydraulic on the petrol then? Would be Nissan form...

yeah theyre hydraulic

all sorted now: ran it at 2000rpm for a few mins until the tappety noise faded.

I also blanked off the egr which has solved the rough idle and slight misfire when reving
