Does the 2.4 petrol gearbox fit the 2.7 diesel engine?

Took some pics but the gearbox has a stack of timber on it, anyway after removing the flywheel from the TDi destined for Ian I realised he will not want the backplate as the Auto has an access plate for removing the drive plate bolts, so took the plate off and offered it up to the box, and no way will they fit, Rick
