Has anyone got any views on or tried one of these? I am always sceptical about this type of thing but you never know...
Which one are you asking about?

OHH One of those..

All it will do is tell your ecu that the engine is cold, which it then sends more fuel into the engine to try and get it upto normal temp.

To make one yourself comes to about 30p or so from maplins.

Could do with one then as my engine runs great unil it is warm then seems to run too lean. I thought this could be due to the K&N induction that a previous owner fitted but doesn't the Exhaust sensor sort this out?

any info on where you install and the resistor value/s etc

come on spill the beans

They are fitted onto the wire that plugs onto the air sensor near to the air filter housing

I know where but which wires etc
and what value resistor

has anyone done this ?
is it worth it ?

Shall i just shut up now

It was done on one of the mr2 forums we are on will dig out was was said and pass it onto you when I next go on there.
But can't say it will do your engine alot of good running like that.

Paul.

I'd like some info on where to stick these resistors too.
I really dont care about long term engine probs. It just wont go at the moment anyway 8O

as somebody has already said, all they do is trick your ecu into thinking that the engine is running cold. most of them modify the read out from the lambda sensor (on the exhaust). but beware, they will give you long term engine problems. everyone should know that petrols have to have a very curial balance between fuel and air. run too lean and you risk over heating the pistons and melting them; run to rich and the petrol dissolves the oil lining the cylindors leaving you cylindor walls and pistons un-lubricated hence leading to excessive wear. they are a very crude way on gaining false power.

the only simple ways to gain true power and torque come from modifying the induction and exhaust system, remapping the ecu properly and of course doing regular servicing.

any of those people still wanting to do it, the resistors i should think will come with fitting instructions
