Hi All,

I don't know whether any of you have been yearning to discover how much it costs to replace an 05 Patrol SVE rear bumper. No one? Never mind I'm going to tell you anyway.

A week last Thursday I took my mother shopping in Tesco in Haslingden. When we came back to the Troll it was missing a chunk of bumper - just a few square inches on the offside corner - looked like it had been chewed by a dog. It took a while for me to work out what had happened - obviously not a collision with a car - but at just the right height for a collision with a Tesco trolley or more likely a whole stack of them.

Adamson's in Oldham are about as good a body shop as I know of - so I took it in there on the way back home. The bumper cannot be repaired - so had to be replaced. The cost - £524.31 - just over half of that is the bumper itself, the rest being spraying and fitting. They did a cracking job - looks as good as new.

I tried it on with Tesco head office - but they have no CCTV cameras covering the part of the carpark the Troll was in, so there is no real evidence as to what actually happened.

I'm not impressed!!!

Cheers

ouch!!! thats round about what i'd expect tho, maybe a bit less?
still not nice. thats what put me off the later models of patrol when
i got mine, the flimsy plastic bumpers, you just know its gonna get
expensive if you give a good bash off roading

you could get a replacement rear steel bar with single or twin wheel
carrier from someone like ARB or opposite lock but be prepared to
sell a body part! would stop a lot of damage of road tho.

when i buy a newer patrol i will wait till bumpers are smashed then
replace with custom steel ones

The aged maternal ancestor reckons that I wouldn't have been in Tescos carpark if I hadn't been taking her shopping - so she insists on paying for the new bumper. I always reckon that you shouldn't argue with a lady. 8)

Cheers
Andrew
