Its all going bad this week. The astra's m.o.t is booked for saturday and the exhaust is blowing, then ive had the problem with the cooling fan on my Trol. Now the bloody flexi pipe has gone. ( it is the original from 1994:lol). Ive found replacements on evilbay for around £80:D but just wondering if it mite be worth saving a bit more cash and going with stainless steel because ive found in the past that pattern part exhaust tend to last couple of years at most. What are ur thoughts peeps

Its the flexi thats gone so cant weld it unfortunatly and it is 18 years old so you can imagine the state of the complete down pipe that its part of.

Have a spy on fleabay mate.I got 2 1/2" flexi in s/s for 24 quid. You can get other sizes and clamp on versions. So you could get one of those and gash it on for now and still reuse it when you do the new system in big bore stainless:naughty

went to my local s/s exhaust specialist today. they had a look and said he could cut off the bad part of down pipe and fab a new part without flexi:eek: for about £80. He said that i dont need the flexi part. Surely Nissan put a flexi pipe in for a reason:confused:

I always imagined the flexi part was to prevent additional stress on the exhaust manifold, and allow for expansion and contraction.

I'd pay the money to save on a bigger bill later on.

Just what i thought. I could tell when he was looking at it that he didn't fancy taking the old pipe off so think ill ebay it or go to Stafford for a proppa job

Well i bought a new down pipe a couple of weeks back of evilbay, thought brilliant it looked same as mine. Anyway i took it to my local tyre/exhaust fitters and OH MY GOD WAS I WRONG:(. They took the old down pipe off which took a while and some heat.
Offered up the new one and the bolt holes didn't quite match the manifold so had to cut the new pipe to fit, then the actual pipes didnt fit so cut them flush, bolted it up after applying some exhaust paste.:thumbs
Now the flange to the middle box was at the wrong angle. Anyhow after much butchering it was fitted.
Before you say should have sent the pipe back, my car was on the ramp with old pipe of and beyond repair hence making the decission to persavere with new pipe.
Moral of the story:- i shouldn't buy pattern part exhausts, i should go straight to my fave custom exhaust specialist which i am doing next friday for a full 3" system in stainless steel:naughty:D

You know it makes sense :naughty can't wait to see that :clap

Well ive got my new exhaust done. Ive gone for a full 3" system but had the tail pipe exit down at an angle so it wont blow shxt all over my tintent so no fancy trim. Its only 3/4 of an inch bigger bore than original but looks huge and sounds great. Im well pleased with it:D, will try to get some pics up this week. The chap did say its a very close fit if the suspension goes to full articulation due to lack of bumpstops:augie. So think it needs a lift and new bumpstops now:naughty

oooooo er I want one :sly come on man where's the youtube clib ? I need to hear it too :naughty
Who did it and how much
