PATHFINDER - LIMP HOME MODE

I have a 2005 Auto diesel Pathfinder. On very occasions - twice this month - it goes into limp-home mode - with 4WD warning coming light on - transmission selector won't respond. I stop the car, switch off, restart and it's fine. I'm going to book it in to the main dealer after Xmas. I'm always wary with this type of problem as I feel they going to tell me I'm the 'only one with this probelm'. Any ideas, thoughts or similar experiences would be very welcome please.

d40 navs are having recall for g/box switches could be same problem as its bound to be common box
