Good news on that front, however a few advisories............:doh

The technician talked about:

Play in the 'Silentbloc' at the rear of the steering triangle.????? not the ball joints, behind those........:nenau

Anti roll bar bushes have some play.

Wheel bearing has some play.

So, my questions are...........how difficult is it to undertake any of these tasks, on the road outside, and do I require any special tools or knowledge..............:nenau

I have the R20 workshop manual download, so can print relevant pages off.

The what now?

Anti roll bar bushes have some play.

Easy, 17mm Socket and a Ball Joint Splitter or scissors

Wheel bearing has some play.

Wheel off, Auto/Manual/Fixed Hub off (including all hub gubbins)
Then a plate with posi head screws remove that and adjust the plate behind it to tension the bearings :thumb2

Almost there Zac, the ARB bushes are the rubber ones held by the U clips, they just need renewing, no ball joints to split, and I do not know what they are referring to in the first one either, Rick

I thought it was referring to the rubber bushes that go one on top of the lower arm and one underneath/inside :nenau

No need to remove front wheels to adjust the bearing unless you have the type of wheel that is a solid centre and not the big plastic centre cap.

Jack the car and support it safely.

Next step depends on fixed or auto hubs but easy enough to remove the hub. Then the circlip can be a bind but has to come off. Then as said theres a locking ring with a couple of cross head screws to remove. Then you can see the adjusting ring.

Can't tell you about the other jobs as I've not really touched the two antirollbar mounting bushes.

Thanks Guys, for all the input, I can cope with most of that...........had lots of fun on my old LR's (sorry to swear on the forum).........:thumb2

I have seen the polybush kits on fleabay, so I am assuming that is the ones I should be looking at?

I had a real struggle getting the techie to explain what the 'silentbloc' thingybobs are, he was so vague and waved his hands about in a Gallic way (as they do over here!).......:nenau

Mind you, I think Perelaar may have a good handle on this one, if I give him the French direct from the advisories, he may have a bright idea............:thumb2

The one thing he did say which was interesting, was that I had obscured the chassis number with underseal!

He said I should scrape it off, around the punched number, and just cover it with black paint, so it could be read..............?

If you are getting a polly bush kit then it'll have the link bushes too so think about replacing the links as they'll be ready for changing in the near future if they don't break apart when you change the bushes.
