Hi all, i noticed a little while since that when i removed the side steps that i had a small hole developing in the outer sill.

Whats the best course of action, patch or replace?

If i were to replace the sill where is the best place to get a new one and what would i expect to pay?

I have all the gear to sort it, just not sure which route to take

Cheers
stephen

You can't buy them. At all.

Fabrication the only route although I think Clivvy or someone might have 'adapted' some from as Fiesta or somesuch Barrymobile?:augie

But its likely only to be the outer skin thats holed, inner is where the strength is..

So i may just have to buy some plate and make them myself.....thats okay i guess, seem straight forward enough.

They would fail the MOT with holes in the out sills wouldn't they?

Mine isn't due for MOT til December, but i would rather get them done sooner rather than later...

So it only passed MOT a few months back, and they didn't pick it up or give an advisory.... :nenau

It must have been developing a while then.

Yes i was a little surprised by that too to be honest, there were a few other little things too that makes me wonder whether the MOT tester was asleep, for example:

The ride height on the front was very low and has caused uneven wear on the front tyres, the front wheel bearings had a LOT of play and the front exhaust "flexi" section was blowing.

i got failed by one garage for holy sills.

did soem research and i "repaired" mine, and did a good job even if i do say so myself, but personally id fabricate some new ones and weld it, the only issue is the curve/taper at the back.

Chances are ther inner will be going too. My advice is replace as much as you can. I had a section replaced and then year after needed another section doing.
