Worked out cheaper to get a solid flywheel replacement and clutch kit shipped from OZ than it was to by one in the UK :nenau and that includes a HD Clutch (figure if I'm gonna replace clutch and flywheel I want them to last).

Not going to name the price but lets just just say I'm gonna have to resort to being a stereotypical tight Scotsman for the next while :( :lol

Who needs a girlfriend to spend my money when I've got the Trol

Now I've just got to find a garage to fit the kit without needing me to sell a kidney...

Did you explore the possibility that a Terrano flywheel may fit it is the same zd 30 engine got one here can take some measurements

Cheers bud but I didn't even bother to consider another DMF as it would eventually just go again. I've known for a while now that a flywheel replacement was going to be on the cards at some point and had made the decision that I would do a solid flywheel conversion. As usual I was guided by the Aussie's and the consenus with them is that the solid version is the best bet.

There will be a change in driving characteristics eg. I will have to change down more often as there won't be the dampening effect of the DMF anymore, but I should gain some more torque and coupled with a new HD clutch (30% more clamp) it should be a long time before anyone needs to be in about there again. :thumb2

To be honest, including shipping I'm about the same as I would have been for a new DMF and clutch, but like I said the SMF shouldn't need touched for a long while (and even then it can be machined instead of replaced) and it's an HD clutch I've gone for.

The Terrano with zd30 engine has solid flywheel that's why I suggested it as an option

Not meaning to question bud as I reckon you know these inside and out but are you sure? I know the 2.7 is a solid flywheel but all the info I could see suggests DMF for the ZD30 whether it's in a Terrano or a Trol :nenau

But.. I do know the 3.0 Trol uses the same gearbox as the 4.2 (makes it easy to do an engine swap :naughty) so maybe the Terrano uses a different gearbox/clutch?

Yeah lots of people will try and give you scare tactics about SMF will cause damage to the box as the dampening effect is gone now ect ect, but then loads of people have done it and have no problem so i say go for it :lol

Meh like I said exact same box in the Y61 Trol 3.0 as in the 4.2 and the 4.2 definitely doesn't have a ruddy DMF!! :doh

Yes I'm absolutely sure I have one its definetly solid

cncfabs thanks, that is really odd  why the hell did Nissan decide to plague only the 3.0 Trol owners with ruddy DMFs! :nenau

Well that's the kit in the country anyway, arrived at the Edinburgh depot this morning and I've just paid the customs charges so it should be despatched up to me tomorrow. £113 of duty in total, could have been worse (I was expecting slightly more in fact) so reasonably happy, just keen now to get the kit all installed in the Trol then I can start building up the beer tokens again for Wales (hopefully :augie)
