Hi,

When I bought my patrol the inside of the car smelled like a wet dog so I started cleaning. The whole interior was taken out and left in the garage for three weeks. The only parts left in the car was the dash and roof lining. All plastic trim was cleaned with Dettol and hot water in the bath (wife not to happy:augie)
Carptets and seats clean about three or four times. While all the door trim was removed I replaced the speakers and radio.

The hard work paid off and the smell is gone and the car is clean:clap:clap

Big Cleaning Job

I would have used my George wet cleaner and done it all in situ !

In the summer so it dried out quickly !

Mine stank of wet dog and mouse piss lol, must be a trol thing ;)

You did a good job.

4w on my cb, I do have a small burner but it's not needed as others will need to run more power to get back to you.

I do however have a ham HF radio that does 100w and is mega sensitive.

I've learnt it's not all about the power. Used to run 400-500w in my CB pirate days. ;)

Thats the problem by me, I speak to a lot of guys on Homebase kits and they all push silly power so I have to push power back!!! I think they push around 200w minimum those lot

They are all running Superstars or Lincolns with Sirio 827 antennas etc so you see what I'm up against

I've got an old Amstrad 802B at home with an Amtron 99 antenna on a 12ft scaffold bar on the ground

My trucks last owners were horse/dog people and it still has that damp dog smell when you first get into it, I have had it valeted and have a few fresheners in it, but I think I may need to do what you did Fred.
I was looking at getting a steam cleaner to go over the carpets with.

I am taking my carpets out and replacing them with chequer tread rubber matting.

People gave me all sorts of advice but nothing helped for that smell and I also had the carpets cleaned but the only thing that helped at the end was to remove the carpets out of the car for about three weeks. I also cleaned the interior metal parts with WD40.

What also helps is Neutradol Gel pots, I had a couple of them in the car.

When I bought my T2 4 or so years ago it stank of dogs, the carpets and every nook and cranny was thick with dog hair. Managed to clean out most of the dog hair but some keeps reappearing after all this time.

I shampooed the carpets and seats, washed everything else without dismantling and the smell did finally go - took about 2 years though!
