Sacrilege - taking a decent RS2000 (especially a 4x4) and inflicting it with a god awful cvh - even if it is a turbo. Not hard to see similar power and far more tractibility from a 16vI4 engine.

Whats a CVH?

Compound Valve angle Hemispherical combustion chamber

A type of ford engine fitted in 1.3 and 1.6 form to Mk2 onwards fiestas, Mk3 onwards escorts and in 1.8 form to sierras, Includes XR2 (mk2&3) Xr3 (+i) etc. and of course RS Turbo's. Its what replaced the kent xflow and was superceded by the zetec.

A fairly unremarkable engine by modern standards. It is possible to produce what is known as a Zvh using the bottom ed of a zetec (usually 2.0L) and the head of a CVH as they share most of their architecture. But why this person would desecrate an RS2000 4x4 with one is beyond me, they are a fairly rare car but came with a great engine - the 16valve I4, which gave 150bhp in standard form but is capable of much more.

Completely Valueless Heap??

No really it means "Compound Valve-angle Hemispherical", a snappy name for a boat-anchor that replaced the Pinto/Kent.

I'll wait for the flack

EDIT - HB beat me to it

Paul I don't like you now    you got me wanting another Escort  my last one looked almost the same apart from being a 5 door & a few more body mods  TBH wished I had built a ZVH engine for it now when I melted the Zetec engine

Slightly off topic.

Just read an article in a mag www.ppcmag.co.uk about a guy who managed to graft a Zetec Head on to a B-Series fitted to a Morris Marina TC.

I sure there was some purpose in it.

I keep hankering after building a Sierra 4x4 with an RS2000 16v head on a scorpio ultima/galaxy 2.3 bottom end, just wish I had somewhere to do it and then keep it - will have to wait till i do. Used to have a 2.0 DOHC xr4x4 (which would be the base car) and loved that, but an extra 50 or so gee gees would be wicked.

interesting idea hb.

we had 3 sierras on the trot, well 2 really.

a 2.0 e reg that all but rotted away so was rebuilt onto
a brand new shell retaining plate etc.

which kindly saved our bacon when it decided to take on
a tram!, we then had a late model 1.8 which frankly was
a better tug than the pinto.

my plan was to take a 4x4 estate and stick in a decent
diesel, maybe at time a 2.5 td ex transit. never happened
ended up with a daewoo nubira 2.0 estate which was even
better towing. solo it only needed 3rd gear fom rest to 70!

then came the t2.

also this rs2000 talk but always wanted a mk2 with nose cone
something to do with the professionals, mind capri wasnt bad
either. recall very earry edition of fast car mag from about 87
someone but a 3.0 essex into a mk2 drool.

Had a mk2 RS custom in the early 80's  as to be one of the only cars I miss

I had an X-Reg 2.8 Granada Ghia for a short while. It was a cracking car to plod about in. When I was driving it, I kept blurting out "You're nicked" and "shut it" !

Lee.
