Found this fella hanging from a light fitting, easily 3" wing-span with wings folded!

Snap!!!!! Was having a bit of a blast from the past last night and re-kindling my early childhood by watching some Wild Thornburys and as we were watching with the window wide open one of those flew in!!!!

I genunley thought at first that it was a small bird or baby bat lol

Quick look on internet, it is probably a hawk moth.
Harmless.

Imagine being woken up with that in your bedroom in the dark of night

Over here in France they are called papillon de nuit(sounds more romantic),they can go as big as3-4 inches and appear like humming birds searching pollen,totally harmless and lovely to see.
