Having problems with my oil light sticking on in the really cold mornings?
If I leave it to run for 5 min switch it off then re-start it goes off fine and will stay off all day?
It only seems happens on first start up in the really cold mornings?
Oil level fine and running fine:doh
Any Ideas? :nenau

Could just be cold weather. Have to say though I'd be tempted to change oil and filter, especially if you don't know when it was last done or what sort of oil was used.

This is a known fault on the 3.0ltr.
It has 2 oil pressure switched. it is the self test on the High pressure switch that sticks.
Mine does it regular.

If it comes on and the engine warning light is on that is the low pressure one (panic).

Some people have changed theres and the same has happened again others have been ok. I suspect there is a bad lot of these knocking around.

Hope this helps

I'd be tempted to switch it off and quick at that.

If the oil pressure light doesn't go out within a second or 2 of starting that unsurprisingly could well mean theres no oil pressure,

no oil pressure = no flow of oil = no oil to bearings etc = wrecked engine pretty quick.

Might just be the switch sticking, they won't be much, for piece of mind I'd get it changed. Also as jim says change oil and filter to be safe.

Thank all,
After a bit more google research it looks like it's a common problem with the 3.0ltr oil pressure switch as iansjones pointed out and a number of people and dealers not having much luck with the replacement parts being any more reliable.
A few have mentioned fitting a gauge instead??
