Have you checked the rocker gasket, it be leaking and running down

Thanks for the help guys :lol

Funnily enough my landy doesn't leak.

When you put some oil in, it probably will.:doh

They don't leak if there is none in there...:lol:lol:lol

Rocker box seal, there are also "O" rings in the bolt holes that can fall out, Ford dealer lost one at the back when they serviced it in the early days of ownership, due to the three years warranty.

This is one of the reasons I do my own servicing.:doh

Rocker cover gasket or poss the injector spill pipes are leaking as it looks like oil when on the engine

Wondering if this is linked with the problem im having with starting. Car will only crank very slowly, like a flat battery but its not. New battery , starter, ,clamps. All earths checked. Almost like engine really tight !!

only if oil has managed to get inside the starter, would have thought unlikely but as oil swells rubber it may have got in, if it has got onto the brushes/com then yes, most unlikely but and there is always a but, starter off and examine will be the only way to prove it, Rick

Thanks Rick , have checked the starter which is dry . Must be a coincidence. Last time I used the car I had to leave it running all day so it did get very hot.
