Hi every, one since I bought my Pathfinder which I love I more and more want to take it off road but the Boss lady says I should have some training because the last time I went off road was in my Transit van when I got stuck on a building site. I have looked on the net and found plenty of adventure days driving a Land Rover if your fit and under 15 st. (Guess what I am NOT to both) but if I wanted to drive a Land Rover off road I would have bought one. What I am after if any ones know of it is tuition in my own Pathie learning how to do thing safely and correctly because its my Pathie I am going to go off road in eventually.
Thanks in anticipation Geoff

Come out on one of our green laning days, plenty of help and advice in a none damaging environment. Most courses out there are either drive their vehicles (as you say often Landies) or are aimed at the commercial user not the recreational one. For Humber-Yorks 4x4 Response we set up our own training and assessment because we couldn't find anything suitable out there - and they're all damn expensive too.

Get out there and have fun but remember the 2 golden rules -

DON'T GO OUT ALONE.

IF IN DOUBT... GET OUT (and have a look)

off road training

you took the words out of my mouth hb.put a post in the green laning forum to see if anyone is planning any lanes days in your area.as hb says its non damaging and there is always plenty of advice and help available.my t2 is my only vehicle so its the family runabout/off road/work horse so you have to show it some respect and know your limits.

Off road driving training

I agree with HB mate. Get out on some trips with the club a few times or so and then see if you need or want to do off road training. You'll be surprised how much natural cababilies you already have plus the tips from other members when your out there can be just as good as any training session. Experience counts for a lot in this field mate. Good luck.

P.S. - Ford transit ??? Nissan Pathfinder ???? No comparison really mate. Stick it low and lerit go -groovy-

hi mate, I'm just down the road from you in warrington,
I can take you out and show you some nice easy stuff
if you like?

Thanks every one, you make it sound so easy, I just want to know how to enjoy my 4x4 safely and responsibly. And BIGBADWULF I’ll be in touch as soon as I can thanks a lot.

We sometimes have days out in Derbyshire which have been real good fun, though it is a while since I managed to go on one. What ever you do don't be tempted to go by your self as you need to go in pairs at least just in case one person gets stuck. Speaking of which at least one of you needs a good tow rope of some kind.
