A couple of problems with my '02 3.0 Terrano LCD odometer display.

First, the left half of the backlight is dead i.e. it is not being lit up when the lights are on so can't see the clock. The right handside is fine. I assume there are two bulbs providing the backlight. Question is are these bulbs easy to replace or a pain in the bum.

Second, the fourth number of the mileage readout has several very pale segments. However, I can just make out the number that should be displayed. When the outside temperature is around 0c or below the LCD segments show up just fine. Is this an easy fix or just live with it?

Apologies for rubbish picture, the digits top the right are fine but out of focus.

Whether it's a coincidence the LCD display segments on the radio are also pale but worse. I'm just thinking if there has been a voltage surge or dry solder joints.

Thanks

Cluster will have to come out, not too difficult. Check out the downloads I'm sure someone did a how to guide to fix those lcd segments. Basically it's the solder joints that fracture known as dry joints. There's several threads regarding this too.

yes there are 2 bulbs for the backlight, replace them both or you will end up with one side brighter then the other, if you take the cluster out and take the back off you will see a row of pins that line up with the lcd, when i did mine there was hardly and solder so you need to use a soldering iron heat up each pin and maybe apply a little solder that should solve your problem
